Yolo County In-Home Supportive 

In-Home Supportive Services (“IHSS”) is a federal, state and locally funded program providing assistance to those eligible aged, blind and disabled individuals who are unable to remain safely in their own homes without this assistance. IHSS provides services according to the client’s ability to perform daily activities, and can include feeding, bathing, dressing, housekeeping, laundry, shopping, meal preparation and clean-up, respiration, bowel and bladder care, moving in and out of bed, rubbing the skin (to prevent skin breakdown), accompaniment to medical appointments, paramedical services and protective supervision. To be eligible for IHSS, you must be on Medi-Cal, blind, disabled or 65 years of age or older, AND unable to live at home safely without help.

Citizens Who Care

Citizens Who Care provide social support services to Yolo County adults and their family caregivers. These services are provided by trained, caring volunteers, with the support of professional staff. THE IN-HOME RESPITE VISITING PROGRAM provides family caregivers of older adults with a weekly break from caregiving. THE CONVALESCENT HOSPITAL VISITING PROGRAM provides companionship and mental stimulation to socially isolated, elderly residents. The “Saturday Club” offers site-based social respite activities at the Davis Senior Center the 2nd and 4thSaturdays each month, giving caregivers a five-hour break each program day. Pre-registration is required.

Golden Days Adult Day Health

Golden Days Adult Day Health is a state licensed day program for people who have medical and social needs. Their program runs from 8:30 to 2:00, Monday through Friday. Most participants are on Medi-Cal which funds the program. There is no out of pocket cost for Medi-Cal beneficiaries. They also accept private pay participants at the current Medi-Cal rate. Multipurpose Senior Services Program (MSSP)

Multipurpose Senior Services Program (MSSP) provides social and health care management for frail elderly clients who are certifiable for placement in a nursing facility but who wish to remain in the community. The goal of the program is to arrange for and monitor the use of community services to prevent or delay premature institutional placement of these frail clients. Yolo Public Authority

Yolo Public Authority is established by state law and county ordinance, legally separate from their county governments, and mandated to provide services which supplement the In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) program in their counties. These services include: a referral registry which recruits, screens and matches workers with IHSS consumers; training for IHSS providers and consumers; a back-up care registry and responsibility; new provider orientation sessions and serving as the employer of record for bargaining with the union representing the IHSS workers.
